Marshall Fundamental School to Host Fall Visual and Performing Arts Festival – Pasadena Now

Musicians, dancers and actors will take the stage at Marshall Fundamental School on Friday with the return of the school’s annual Fall Festival of Visual and Performing Arts, organizers said.

After an interruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the festival is scheduled to take place at 5 p.m. on campus, 990 N. Allen Ave., according to Marshall. The event will take place on two separate outdoor stages and all guests must wear masks, regardless of their immunization status.

“The festival begins in the North Quad with dance and orchestral performances, followed by a brief intermission,” the student organizers said in a written statement. “The concert will continue in the South Quad with performances by the choir, orchestra and theater.”

Students of all levels will participate, from beginner to advanced.

Orchestra instructor Marshall Heather King said the music programming would include “some really fun superhero music,” as well as “music that I used to play as a kid and that I really liked “.

Principal Lori Touloumian said she was excited to once again host an in-person community event on campus.

After a year of instruction and virtual performances, “I think this performance is extremely meaningful and important, not only for parents and guardians, but also for students,” according to choir organizer Marshal and lead organizer. of the festival, Jonathan Gould.

“I’m so happy that we can finally play live again. It gives students the opportunity to practice being a live artist, to be professional, to have balance and confidence on stage – something they didn’t have last year. because of virtual learning, ”Gould said.

“We are delighted to present our phenomenal artistic program at our fall festival,” said Touloumian. “We look forward to seeing our families and community members for a magical evening of music and visual arts presentations on campus. “

Entrance to the event is free, however, guests are advised to bring lawn chairs or picnic blankets for seating. Animals will not be allowed.

Food trucks will be on site.

The Marshall Fundamental School is home to a strong arts department, said Felita Kealing, assistant coordinator of marketing, student recruitment and community relations.

“It encompasses both our middle and high school kids,” Kealing said. “We have a high percentage of our student body that is involved in the arts. “

“We have nine teachers who are dedicated to the arts… which really adds to our curriculum,” Kealing said. “So they can have kids for up to seven consecutive years in the same program, which really raises the level of students’ performance and their abilities and how they can grow over a period of time.”
