Kevin Kelley is the Platonic Ideal of White Guy Dance Moves

Ward 7 Councilor, former mayoral candidate and current Kevin Kelley backer Basheer Jones posted a video to Instagram of the Ward 7 Senior’s Ball on Sunday night featuring Jones and Kelley dancing back-to-back.

He quickly made the rounds, as Justin Bibb’s supporters share the video with their networks, experiencing emotions ranging from disbelief to fear to horror.

Experience it for yourself above!

Here at Scene, we won’t fault Kelley for her white type dance moves. We have witnessed this indecision with the hands, in particular, at too many weddings. Although we do recognize his awkwardness is exacerbated next to the supple, velvet-clad Jones.

Support or opposition for Kelley should be based on her background in Town Hall, and absolutely not on those dance moves. Kevin Kelley and his coalition have stressed that he is the candidate of the streets, and these dance moves should not be interpreted one way or the other as reflecting his political positions affecting said streets. (ALTHOUGH IT’S TIMELY TO DO IT !!!) We need to be disciplined, put stereotypes aside and remember: good, happy dancers can be candidates for the board. Shy bad dancers can be street contenders.

Plus, country seasons tend to be overflowing with cheesy crap like this. Please: don’t vote for or against Kelley based on this performance. Look deeper, as Kelley often pleads. Look what he did on the board.

Having said that, the video is amazing.
