EDM duo The Chainsmokers are backing a new feature scripted film on the emo music scene. The film, which is still in its developmental stage, is titled Every night is Emo Nite.
According to a report by Variety, the film seeks to put fictional characters in an actual setting, placing them in Emo Nite events that have become popular in the Los Angeles club scene.
And while emo music isn’t exactly in the artists’ wheelhouse, they said Variety that “emo music has greatly influenced our lives, our tastes and the music we make. The community around music is unique, and we are delighted to present Brandon’s incredible story to the world.”
The screenplay is written by filmmaker Brandon Zuck, with support from Chainsmokers production company Kick the Habit Productions. Other people involved include 50 Cent, 3BLACKDOT Company, Five All in the Fifth Entertainment and Emo Nite co-founders TJ Petracca and Morgan Freed.
Petracca and Freed are both excited about the new movie and how it will open people up to the emo community. They said in a joint statement: “With ‘Every Nite Is Emo Nite’ we are going to be able to translate both the world and the Emo Nite community into a whole new form of media and entertainment. to be able to do that. to tell more stories and develop this thing in more ways than we ever thought possible. “
The two started Emo Nite as a club event in Los Angeles in 2014 and now they’ve turned it into a brand that’s featured for events like Coachella, hosting branded parties in over 30 cities. They count celebrities like Demi Lovato and Post Malone among the attendees of their events. And among their special musical guests are Dashboard Confessional, Blink-182, All Time Low, Saves the Day, My Chemical Romance and Panic! At the disco.
