Dorothea Ioannou named new CEO of the American P&I Club manager

Hughes will step down as CEO of the Shipowners Claims Bureau (SBI), responsible for the American Club, on August 1, after 27 years in the role.

Ioannou, currently Deputy Managing Director of SCB, will succeed Hughes as CEO.

Hughes said: “The past 27 years have been the most important of my professional life. The prospects for the American Club were, by common agreement, not entirely promising in 1995, but they have experienced extraordinary growth and development since then. My colleagues and I are proud of the collective efforts that over the years have brought us to where we are today – marine insurers who command universal respect within the industry.

Concurrent with Hughes stepping down as CEO, Vince Solarino will step down as SCB’s Chief Operating Officer, and Dan Tadros, currently SCB’s Chief Legal and Compliance Officer, will assume the role of Chief Operating Officer.

Arpad Kadi will continue to serve as Chief Financial Officer and Tom Hamilton will continue to serve as Chief Underwriting Officer.

Hughes added: “I am confident that Dorothea, as the first female CEO of a group club management company, and Dan, along with Arpad and Tom, with the support of all members of our service teams around the world, will take the Club and EOM (Eagle Ocean Marine) to even greater success in the years to come.
