Diana Krall and Guster to perform at UPAC in Kingston – Daily Freeman

KINGSTON, NY – Jazz pianist / singer Diana Krall and pop music group Guster are scheduled to perform at Ulster Performing Arts Center, 601 Broadway.

Guster will perform on January 13 and Krall on April 2. Tickets will go on sale to Bardavon / UPAC members at 11 a.m. on October 27 at 11 a.m. and to the general public at 11 a.m. on October 29.

“Krall is the only female jazz singer to have eight albums for the first time at the top of the Billboard Jazz Albums chart,” UPAC said when announcing her show. “His albums won two Grammy Awards, 10 Juno Awards and also won nine gold, three platinum and seven multi-platinum albums.”

Krall wrote lyrics for Elvis Costello after the two married in 2003, then began to compose his own songs, which resulted in his 2004 album “The Girl in the Other Room”.

Tickets for Krall’s show, which will feature his quartet, start at $ 75. Bardavon / UPAC members get $ 5 off.

Guster, whose opening act will be Ben Kweller, is described by UPAC as “a versatile and literate institution of alternative rock on the east coast”.

“Guster emerged in the mid-90s with an original amalgamation of acoustic folk and pop before adopting a more robust sound that mixed the grandeur of stage-ready British pop with proletarian American trad-rock,” said UPAC, adding that the group is known. for “earworm hooks, soaring choirs [and] skillful noodles on the guitar.

The group’s 1999 release, “Lost and Gone Forever”, featured the single “Fa Fa”. Other Guster albums include “Ganging Up on the Sun” (2006), “Easy Wonderful” (2010) and “Look Alive” (2019).
