Justin Bieber spoke of a time when he felt “confused and angry” after being arrested for drunk driving in Miami seven years ago.

The 26-year-old singer posted photos of his arrest with a lengthy post about how he recovered from this difficult time.

“Seven years ago today, I was arrested, it’s not my best time. Not proud of where I was in my life. I was hurt, unhappy, confused, angry, misled, misunderstood and angry with God, ”he wrote.

In 2014, the songwriter and singer of Baby Khalil were both arrested in the early hours of the morning on suspicion of street racing.

They were subsequently charged with impaired driving and resisting arrest, among other offenses; a toxicology report was subsequently released confirming that Bieber had both Xanax and THC in his system at the time of the incident.

Justin admitted that his faith has played a major role in his maturation since the incident and why he is still a steadfast believer in God.

“All this to say that God has taken me a long way,” he wrote. ‘Since then, until now, I have achieved something. God was as close to me then as he is now. ‘

Justin wrote: “My encouragement to you is to” let your past be a reminder of how far God has brought you. Don’t let shame ruin your “today”, let Jesus ‘forgiveness take over and watch your life blossom into all that God has designed for you.’

After the arrest was announced, a petition was launched to expel the singer from the United States and ultimately collected more than 270,000 signatures.

This week we come to the section of the Boy Scouts Handbook from 1952 which covers exploring grasslands, forests and the desert, and the various plant and animal species that a young Scout may encounter while exploring their neighborhood.

Growing up in Newport, my exposure to plants and animals was somewhat limited. The grass in our little front yard and a few neighborhood cats is all that comes to mind.

So when my family moved to Grants Lick when I was in fifth grade, a whole new world opened up to me. There I was, a town boy suddenly stumbled across the unregulated wilderness of rural Campbell County.

By the time he discovered one of his favorite 1980s movies – Natty Gann’s Journey – The Man Scout understood that wolves, in fact, don’t make rooster-a-doodle-doo.

Two quick stories illustrate my Weren’t No Boy Scoutness when we moved.

First, on a drive south through Kentucky to visit my family in Jackson, I spotted a sign for Wolfe County. Excited to meet a real wolf (I know, right?), I told my family I could hear a wolf howling in the distance. When my mom asked me what it looked like, I said, “Cock-a-doodle-doo! “

Unfortunately, I wasn’t kidding. This was before the internet, mind you, and apparently before I found out Natty Gann’s Journey, one of John Cusack’s first films that would become one of my favorites at the time. I just had no idea what a wolf looked like. Or a rooster for that matter, I guess. And so, the elusive singing wolf.

The second story is perhaps even more embarrassing. Living in Grants Lick, I discovered that I was afraid of cows. Not quite the same level of fear as fire, but for a boy suddenly surrounded by bovine creatures of all shapes and sizes, it was unsettling.

In my city boy brain I imagined how bored the cows must be, standing in a field all day, day in and day out, rain or shine, eating grass. I convinced myself that they were biding their time and plotting something nefarious. Whenever I was near one, I was sure he would attack at any time.

But anyway we moved to Grants Lick and suddenly my brother Billy and I were spending all of our hours playing in our neighbor’s barn or going down to the Licking River. The hike felt like miles then but the river actually ended up to our property, just over a stone’s throw from our back porch.

Dead snakes on the road, deer, tobacco plantations – that was another universe.

My closest encounter with my new critter neighbors was on a cool fall day when Billy and I decided to play some war games in the woods behind our house. I was “that,” and I had just started looking for Billy when not far in the woods I saw an old wooden ladder leaning against a tree. “I’ve got you now, Billy,” I said to myself as I slowly climbed the ladder, staring skyward for any sign of my older brother in the canopy above.

Chris still remembers the sound of hundreds of wasps swarming all over him after he stepped on their nest while he was playing war games in the backyard with his brother. (Photo by Larry Wong, Postmedia Network)

It was then that I heard the strangest sound I have ever heard in my life. I can still hear it now, as I write this. It started off as a gentle hum. Maybe a small engine? If I hadn’t been so focused on the laser to find Billy, I might not have even noticed.

But the buzz quickly got louder and within seconds it was all I could hear. I was only two or three rungs down from this last wooden when I looked down to see if I could figure out where it was coming from.

What I saw did not fully register at first. I was wearing gray sweatpants and when I looked down the pant legs were black. And they sort of vibrated back and forth.

A moment later, I realized that my legs were completely covered in wasps. They had made a nest on the first rung I had stepped on as I climbed the ladder. And they weren’t happy.

I jumped off the ladder and froze. I had no idea what to do, so I just closed my eyes, hugged the tree as hard as I could, and cried murder.

Billy came out from behind another tree and ran towards the house to look for my dad.

The thing is, my dad wasn’t a Boy Scout either, but I think maybe something changes a man when he becomes a dad. He got from our house to that tree in about five seconds, walked through a swarm of angry wasps, pulled me off that tree, and threw me over his shoulder.

He ripped off my sweatpants as he drove me home, leaving a trail of stubborn wasps in his wake. My parents gave me an oatmeal bath and then applied what my family called snake oil. It was a bright red healing elixir that came in a cute little bottle that I still kept somewhere in my house.

Snake oil or not, it worked. My parents didn’t even take me to the doctor. We stopped counting stings when we got to 100, and I added spheksophobia – the fear of wasps – to my rapidly growing list.

Until next week, take a good trip everyday!

His field guide: a 1952 Boy Scouts Handbook he found on eBay.

Angry Exchange Leads to 2 Points of Order in NWT Legislative Assembly http://www.clefclub.org/angry-exchange-leads-to-2-points-of-order-in-nwt-legislative-assembly/ http://www.clefclub.org/angry-exchange-leads-to-2-points-of-order-in-nwt-legislative-assembly/#respond Sun, 28 Mar 2021 22:18:06 +0000 http://www.clefclub.org/angry-exchange-leads-to-2-points-of-order-in-nwt-legislative-assembly/

An exchange of anger between Health Minister Julie Green and Great Slave Lake MP Katrina Nokleby during Question Period in the Legislature on Tuesday could lead to a debate on two points of order today.

A point of order is raised when someone draws attention to a violation of the rules of the legislature.

In this case, Green and Nokleby accused the other of unfairly characterizing their motives.

Nokleby was lobbying Green about mental health supports for children and youth, when Green disagreed with Nokleby’s claim that the territory is in a mental health crisis.

“I recognize the member and I don’t agree with that,” Green said. “She asked for horror stories on Facebook and was apparently very happy with it.”

This prompted Nokleby to strike back.

“I would like to state that I find it repugnant that the minister calls my willingness to defend my constituents and the residents of this territory to collect horror stories which I find gratifying,” she said, rousing anger.

“I find it disgusting and I find it disgusting that the minister does not accept that she is in the midst of a crisis, the pandemic only accelerates this crisis and that if she will continue to deny the problem we are not going to see solutions and we will only make it worse. “

The two MPs filed a point of order with President Frederick Blake Jr. after the exchange.

Blake said he would take points of order under advisement and “hopefully” open the question for debate today.

Nokleby was kicked out of the cabinet last summer after the prime minister and her cabinet colleagues accused her of “continual tantrums” and other displays of aggression while she was working.

There is no definitive answer, but theories range from “dreams mean nothing” to “dreams are more important than our waking existence,” says the psychologist and dream expert. Rubin Naiman, Ph.D..

“Many contemporary neuroscientists believe that during REM sleep, the brain is involved in maintenance tasks and that it” accidentally stirs up dust “visually. “The other extremity is that dreaming is more substantial than awakening. And we see this in ‘dream cultures’, such as the indigenous peoples of Australia, who believe that dreaming is intrinsic to our spiritual existence. “

Most of the psychological theories surrounding dreaming fall somewhere in the middle. One of the most widely accepted ideas is the notion of dreams as a consolidation of memory, where the dream is a reflection of waking life, “almost like a house mirror,” says Naiman. “From this point of view, the interpretation of dreams consists in decoding the dream. It enlightens us and psychologically expands our consciousness”, offering an “expansion of consciousness”.

The key here, he says, is not to try to interpret the dream literally through its symbols and visuals, but rather to feel the emotions it evokes, to ask, What does this raise for me emotionally? “We have to learn the language of dreams, we don’t always have to translate it into awakening.”

With that said, here are a handful of common dreams and some interpretations of what they might represent.

Army Flying Museum launches woolen helicopter campaign http://www.clefclub.org/army-flying-museum-launches-woolen-helicopter-campaign/ http://www.clefclub.org/army-flying-museum-launches-woolen-helicopter-campaign/#respond Sun, 28 Mar 2021 22:18:04 +0000 http://www.clefclub.org/army-flying-museum-launches-woolen-helicopter-campaign/

A local museum is appealing to members of the public to help them create a fleet of woolen helicopters as part of a new campaign.

The Army Flying Museum, based at Middle Wallop, wants to use the knitted and crocheted creations as part of a series of art installations, called “Sky High,” which will launch later in 2021.

The helicopters can be based on the museum’s own collection of rotary planes, or can be custom designed, with the museum stating that they “are any size or color, and the brighter the better.”

The Army Flying Museum, which opened in 1987, is no stranger to the knitted invasions of its site, having last year organized “Magnificent Mini Medals” to commemorate Remembrance Day, featuring woolen poppies and medals submitted to the museum by members of the public.

Models of the helicopters can be found on the museum’s website, and when completed, they can be dropped off at the museum after the lockdown ends or displayed directly on them.

The helicopters will be on display around the museum’s collection, which includes workhorses from the British Army like the Lynx, as well as those from other forces around the world, like the Bell Iroquois and Aerospatiale Gazelle.

The new campaign, “Heroic Helicopters”, is one of many different installations for “Sky High”. Other facilities include a graffiti art project and the sewing and embroidery of military vests. These jackets are based on army uniforms, including those of units such as the Royal Engineer Balloon Section and the Glider Pilot Regiment.

The crochet creations will be on display at the museum once the lockdown is complete, with the museum seeking to have over 1,000 to display.

You will find more information about the project and how to get involved by clicking here or by sending an e-mail to the following address@armyflying.com

How to create an online brand that sticks to the heads of customers http://www.clefclub.org/how-to-create-an-online-brand-that-sticks-to-the-heads-of-customers/ http://www.clefclub.org/how-to-create-an-online-brand-that-sticks-to-the-heads-of-customers/#respond Sun, 28 Mar 2021 22:18:03 +0000 http://www.clefclub.org/how-to-create-an-online-brand-that-sticks-to-the-heads-of-customers/

  • Sexual wellness brand Maude recently closed a $ 3.7 million funding round led by CASSIUS and joined by True, Outbound Ventures, Vice Ventures and actor Dakota Johnson, who joined the company as as “co-creative director”.
  • Maude, who offers products tailored to clients’ sex lives like vibrators, condoms, massage oils and toiletries, had to overcome the fact that people tend to buy products for their sex life in such a way. erratic, which makes it difficult to create a cohesive business.
  • CEO Éva Goicochea overcame this obstacle by building a good image of Maude by diligently maintaining relationships with journalists and by promoting herself as a source of information on sexuality.
  • Visit the Business Insider homepage for more stories.

Maude CEO Éva Goicochea found she had little trouble presenting her sexual wellness startup’s line of condoms, vibrators and lubricants to investors.

“I kind of go in and talk about it like you would talk about toothpaste,” Goicochea told Business Insider.

This may be in part why Goicochea was recently successful in convincing investors to fund a recent $ 3.7 million funding round led by CASSIUS and joined by True, Outbound Ventures, Vice Ventures and actor Dakota Johnson. , who joined the company as a “co-creator”. director.”

Goicochea believes the company will be profitable in 2021, which she attributes to both effective capital management and a marketing operation that keeps her brand at the forefront of customers’ minds. People’s sex lives are constantly changing, making their product purchases unpredictable.

“Knowing this, we wanted to create a content side to the site, be a priority and create customer value beyond the product,” Goicochea said.

As COVID-19 forcibly shuts down the physical locations of businesses across the country, establishing a strong online presence has become more essential than ever. Goicochea told Business Insider how she created a strong digital identity that kept customers coming back.

Establish yourself as an authority that goes beyond your core product

Maude’s many sexual wellness products are just one part of her operations. The brand also operates The Maudern, a blog that posts articles about intimacy written by Maude staff and freelancers with headlines like “Everything You Need To Know About Natural Lubrication” and “Is Your Dog Watching You Have Sex ? “.

The Maudern started out as a small, occasional blog featured in Maude’s marketing emails. Goicochea decided to develop it further when she realized that customers clicked to read the articles as much as they clicked to view the products. Since then, The Maudern has grown to three sections, each targeting a different age group.

“We really have priority with our consumers,” Goicochea said. “They get something from Maude in the form of content, even though they don’t shop with us every month.”

Goicochea said she believes Maude’s content operations will reach one million monthly visitors over the next two months.

Although running a budget-tight ship has helped Maude, Goicochea believes: “What is most important is to think about how you can create an affinity with the brand which is very difficult for you to grasp. ‘other brands. ” Companies can take ownership of their area of expertise by building up a

hidden
of regular content wrapped with their signature and branding.

Building healthy relations with the press

Goicochea estimates that a third of Maude’s sales are driven by traffic from articles that mention her product. That’s why two of the seven people who work for his company focus on the press.

The company is about three years old, but has had “around 600 release pieces,” Goicochea said. “It’s a big part of our strategy.”

To generate so much interest, you need to build healthy relationships with journalists and the media. Goicochea partly attributes Maude’s success to her age and gender inclusive branding, which allows her to be covered in a wide variety of outlets.

But another part is finding and following journalists who are interested in what Maude is doing.

“We’re taking notes on the writers and on who’s where. We make sure we know if they’ve moved on to other publications,” Goicochea said. “It’s very much a matter of diligence and organization behind the scenes.”

Understanding that what they want to report on may not be exactly the same as what you want them to do is key to getting a journalist’s attention.

“Make sure you are really sending a message to something that interests someone and that you don’t try to push your own agenda forward,” Goicochea said.

Some journalists will be interested in writing about a company’s products, some will be curious to explore a founder’s story, and others will want to understand how a business works. Find out what they tend to write and tailor your pitch to it.

“When you pitch a pitch, give the right amount of information for this writer and this post,” Goicochea said.

The ideal relationship between an entrepreneur and a journalist is genuine and useful, said Goicochea. The reporter should “feel like he can just go straight to you and get what he needs from you.”

Following this formula has allowed Maude to appear in media like Vogue, GQ and Buzzfeed.

“This is how we stay ahead,” said Goicochea. And that’s how it builds customer loyalty.

The White House trashes a former senior homeland security official under Vice President Mike Pence after he said President Donald Trump once suggested COVID-19 might be a good thing because it would prevent him from shaking hands with ” disgusting people “.

Olivia Troye is the latest former member of the Trump administration to speak out against him and urge voters to deny him a second term – and also the latest to be labeled “unhappy” by a White House that has turned down. accustomed to catching fire from former initiates.

Troye was on the White House Coronavirus Task Force, which Pence heads.

“I have no idea who she is, she doesn’t know me,” President Donald Trump said when asked about her as he left the White House for a campaign rally.

– I just heard about it, I do not know it. She was working for the vice president, ” Trump said. “I have no idea who she is,” Trump continued. “I have never met her, to my knowledge,” he added.

Trump said Troye was “let go” and also said she wrote a “beautiful letter,” a term used in her exchange of gushing letters with North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un, although he did not. don’t know her.

An official White House photograph showed them together in the Roosevelt Room on March 11, meeting with health officials.

Other White House officials have claimed she was “unhappy” after the longtime Republican spoke out in support of Democrat Joe Biden for the presidency.

She joins a growing list that includes Miles Taylor, former chief of staff in the Department of Homeland Security, and former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci.

Troye, Pence’s former homeland security adviser, said in a new video released Thursday by the Republican Voters Against Trump group that working for Trump was “terrifying” and that he was more concerned about his chances of re-election than his protecting the nation from the virus. She also said it was “horrible”.

“The truth is, he doesn’t actually care about anyone other than himself,” she says.

Troye alleges that at a task force meeting she attended, the President told the room that “Maybe this COVID case is a good thing. I don’t like to shake hands with people. I don’t have to shake hands with these disgusting people. ”

“These disgusting people are the same people he claims to care about. It’s the people who still go to his rallies today who have complete confidence in who he is, “she said, insisting,” if the president had taken this virus seriously, or if he had actually made an effort. to say how bad it was, it would have slowed the spread of the virus, it would have saved lives.

Troye described herself as a “John McCain Republican.”

“I have been a Republican all my life. I’m a McCain Republican, ”she said.

“I am a Bush Republican and I vote for Joe Biden because I truly believe we are in a time of constitutional crisis. At this point, it’s the countryside rather than the party.

Longtime Republican Troye said she plans to vote for Trump’s Democratic challenger Joe Biden in November.

The White House has categorically denied that the exchange took place, with White House spokesman Judd Deere saying “his claims have no basis in reality and are flatly inaccurate.”

He further called Troye “unhappy” and said she usually watched task force meetings from a busy staff room and was never in a private meeting with the chairman.

‘Mrs. Troye is a former employee and career staff member of the Department of Homeland Security, who is unhappy that her details have been cut short because she was no longer able to cope with her daily duties, ”added Keith Kellogg, head of national security for Pence. advisor, who said Troye reports to him and never expressed concern about the administration’s response.

Trump himself told reporter Bob Woodward in recorded interviews that he intentionally played down the virus in public comments, even though he was fully aware of the danger he posed.

He also describes himself as a germaphobe and has denounced the practice of shaking hands before running for office.

Republican voters against Trump are one of many groups trying to convince Republicans and others who once supported the president that they should vote for Biden.

“Never before have so many senior officials of an incumbent president opposed his re-election and supported his opponent,” Sarah Longwell, strategic director of Republican Voters Against Trump, said in a statement.

K-Beauty — What is Korean beauty http://www.clefclub.org/k-beauty-what-is-korean-beauty/ http://www.clefclub.org/k-beauty-what-is-korean-beauty/#respond Sun, 28 Mar 2021 22:18:03 +0000 http://www.clefclub.org/k-beauty-what-is-korean-beauty/

I spoke with historians and visited museums in Korea, where I come from, to understand the rich heritage of beauty and traditions passed down from generation to generation, transforming it into what it is today. Thousands of years ago, Korea was largely a agricultural society. Almost everyone was outside under the harsh rays of the sun. The search for ways to cure sun damage has since been embraced by Korean beauty.

At that time, natural ingredients like camellia, mung beans, and rice were popular for their rich antioxidant benefits and moisturizing properties. It is amazing that this history of proven natural ingredients has been passed down and still is incorporated into today’s beauty formulas.

Then, in the 1940s and beyond, as the Korean economy began to grow exponentially, the beauty companies that started the modern K-beauty movement (many still exist today) took hold. . Saengreen was established in 1987 and was one of the first beauty companies focused on natural ingredients. Peaceful Love, founded earlier in 1945, has grown slowly and steadily to become the company it is today. Shangpree, famous for its beloved eye masks, was started in the 1990s. Each of these businesses is still thriving today. As the scope and development of Korean beauty continued to advance, there were so many new formulas, ingredients, and product types that became a reality (skin lotions, essences, serums, etc.).

I remember as a toddler living in Korea my mom taught me how to brush my teeth … and apply moisturizer! Just as brushing my teeth is a way to take care of my health, I have always grown up believing that skin care is also a form of personal care.
